I decided to change it up today and do a feature on my favorite soap maker on Etsy, burntmill! I asked her a few questions and am posting a few of my favorite soaps of hers! Enjoy!

How long would have you been making soaps?

-I would say about 3 years, give or take now.

What first got you interested in taking a soap class?

-I started with a candle making class at a local community college. Then a few years later, the same teacher was teaching how to make melt and pour soaps so I signed up. I didn't like the melt and pour soaps to start with because you use a pre-made base and I just felt like I wanted to do more so I started to research cold process soap making. By doing cold process soaps, I am able to pick what oils and properties go into my soap. It is more hands-on, which I like.

Do you currently use more than one soap making process? If so, which is your favorite?

-I currently make both cold process soaps and melt and pour glycerin soaps. They both have advantages I like but I would lean towards the cold process as my favorite.

Do you have a favorite soap of yours?

-I would have to say Black Raspberry Vanilla is my favorite. That is the scent that started me really wanting to make the cold process soaps. i had gotten a bar of it from another soap maker in a gift exchange and was blown away by how great it smelled. So, I would say that is always my go to scent.

Any soaps you have in the works or ideas for soaps you'd like to make?

-Well, this weekend I will be making a custom batch of Black Licorice soap for a good friend. He has requested it to be pure white with little black jojoba spheres throughout the entire soap. I am getting pretty excited to see that one. Beyond that, I am seeing one that is chocolate mixed with another scent like coconut, marsmallow, raspberry, or ??? I haven't exactly decided yet.

Moving

We're moving this week so I haven't been adding a lot to my store. I will also be aggressively looking for a job so I won't be able to commit as much time to crafting and Etsy. I will probably use this time to also come up with more idea for products for the shop. I would love your input on what you'd like to see me stock. I am hoping to branch out into more adult-oriented stuff....eventually changing my Etsy banner and avatar to suit a more mature look. Instead of focusing on just little girls, I hope to soon offer hair goodies for all ages. I would love to feature some rhinestone and glitzy bobby pins. Something elegant enough for a wedding maybe. The little kid stuff is just so fun to make but I want to reach a broader customer audience. My speciality is still my bow holders..I love how creative I can get with them. I'm working on a custom order right now that I hope to put up pictures of next week and offer the same design to others. Well, that's all for now. I need to stock up on some supplies so I'm off. Okay, I have definitely neglected this blog. I could have been posting for months now but haven't. It takes time and effort to craft, take pictures, and post everything to Etsy. That leaves little energy for blogging. But here I am! I promise to try and blog a few times a week - especially when I have new products up! Yesterday, I posted two pairs of cupcake clippies. I had to make some clippies to go along with my cupcake obsession of course. Here they are:

They are still available in my shop. I also have two lots of appliques/rhinestones/buttons/cabochons to destash. I'm offering them at far lower prices than others' destashes. Usually a destash lot of padded appliques costs 10 cents for each applique. But I am offering a lot of 75 for $6.50 and a lot of 50 at $4.00. It's a mix of this and that and I need it gone. I also need to restock on supplies here soon so that I can continue to create. Any suggestions for things you'd like to see in my shop? Don't hesitate to let me know!!

Hi everyone! I am just delving into the world of blogging and it seems all so overwhelming! I guess that is mostly due to my thinking of it as a job. But my desire is to connect with other people who enjoy crafting and share ideas and inspiration. I'm hoping it will be my little escape but also wonder how I can fit blogging in with crafting and taking care of 5 month old twins and my 7 month old daughter! Should be interesting! Right now, I am having a lot of fun making clippies but my collection is amassing! I haven't sold as much as I would like to. I'm hoping this blog will help me bring visitors to my shop in hopes of getting my products out there to little princesses everywhere! I need to add some more clippie/bow/pony o holders. If only there were a craft store closer to home! Perhaps I can make some time tomorrow on my day off to meander to Hobby Lobby...hehe. I could spend hours upon hours there!
